What is GazeSense?

GazeSense is a 3D eye tracking software that provides real-time gaze coding without the need to wear glasses and tracking the eye-gaze in 3D. Using off the shelf depth-sensing cameras, it allows you to track multiple subjects, label objects of interest in the open space and track attention towards them in real-time.

Baby Robot Project

The Baby Robot Project seeks to create social robots with the ability of building joint-attention with children through multimodal understanding of the subject. 

This is demonstrated by the social robot Furhat interacting with Professor Gustafson. GazeSense enables the robot to track the user’s gaze in 3D and sense user attention towards different regions of the board. As a result Furhat is able to educate the user indicating correct and incorrect placements of the puzzle pieces.


Festo, the German multinational industrial control and automation company, integrated GazeSense into their futuristic BionicWorkplace concept. The interactive screen recognizes when the user is looking at the hive shaped tile on the top right and zooms in to reveal the message board. Once the operator looks away again, the tile moves back into its original position, decluttering the display.
